How to create a custom email for your business in 2022
You've found it… The push you've been looking for.
It’s 2022 and you're about to start your business. Or maybe you’ve already started but you're using @hotmail.com, @gmail.com, or @yahoo.com for your email address...
We get it. You want to look professional in front of your customers and organise your mailboxes. Having a custom business email address has many benefits. Just to name a few:
- You'll look more trustworthy
- You're less likely to get caught in spam filters.
- It's easier to find your site if you use your domain.
- You don't have to worry about changing your email as your business grows.
Now that we have covered why you need a business email address, let's look at how GoogleWorkspace can help you do it.
1. Decide on a domain name
You can skip this step if you already have one. Even if you don't, it's very easy. You might be wondering what I'm talking about. I found this on Google.
Frequently called a domain, a domain is a name that is associated with an IP address on the internet. It appears after www. in web addresses and after the @ symbol in email addresses.
Select a name that is short, easy to remember, and includes a keyword. Take the example ofNoah, a Cleaner. It's pointless to choose Noah.com since it won't show up in any search results.A better alternative might be Noahscleaning.com, if Noah was based in London and didn’t want to use his own name. He could pick LondonCleaners.com.
Custom domains can be bought from sites like GoDaddy
2. Go to Google Workspace
All you need is a domain (or you can buy one from them directly) and £4.60 to get a professional business email address with Google Workspace!
Simply follow the instructions and you'll have your email in no time. There's a chance you'll have to open your domain settings (on your domain hosting website), but Google's technology almost always does it for you.
You will be charged a fee each month depending on which package you choose. You can also have multiple accounts such as info@, help@ or youname@.
Now it's time to get to work! If you are transferring emails always save contacts. It’s a good idea to send an email update and redirect your old inbox. If you need help building a website next, we got you covered. Just contact us.
